Making affiliate marketing money should be far simpler than results tend to indicate. We are reliably informed that 5% of affiliate marketers earn 95% of the income available, which means they are super rich. While 95% of would be marketers fight over the remaining 5% income which means they are super poor.
If you make affiliate marketing money your goal you obviously want to be among the 5% who become super rich. So let's take a look at affiliate marketing from arm's length and see what we can discover and whether we prise out a few affiliate tips along the way.
The first question must be: "What does it take to attract affiliate marketing money?"
1. You need a product to sell.
2. You need a place to sell it from.
3. You need a massive amount of targeted traffic.
4. You need to convert the targeted traffic into buyers.
Looking back at the four steps above we can make a further division and state that steps 1 and 2 are relatively easy and everybody can do them - even if they don't have technical skills they can find a way to outsource the jobs.
Steps 3 and 4 are the true secrets to make affiliate marketing money, steps 1 and 2 are simply tools required to get to where you want to be.
However we should look at all steps that need to be covered or this article is incomplete.
Step 1.
You need a product to sell and here we can give a very valuable tip: 99.9% of the self proclaimed gurus will claim that digital, instant downloadable products are the best to sell. Of course they will because their entire business is built around getting you to buy their digital, instant downloadable products.
Now for my viewpoint on this subject and I can assure you that this is how I started making affiliate marketing money:
Who the heck is going to buy a digital downloadable product that will get the customer rich from somebody they don't know and have never heard of? If Bill Gates was presenting the product he has a chance of success because he has a track record of making money.
I have always found it easier to sella physical product like a Sony TV or Sound Center. Why? Because the public will focus on Sony's reputation in this field and not my reputation. In short I'm joint venturing with a very well known and trusted brand name. This gives me the chance to to make affiliate marketing money by overcoming the trust (or lack of trust) factor.
So internet marketing tip number 2 is to be sure you will be trusted in the market place.
Step 2:
You need a place to sell it from: You need a website of some nature so that you can pre-sell the client before sending them on to Sony's website for the final sale to be made.
Let me be clear about the difference between pre-selling and selling. Nobody wants to be sold twice therefore you should never attempt to sell on your webpage. It is far better that you review the product and highlight all the good and bad points you find with the product and maybe compare it to another product. (Be careful with this - only compare to another product you will recieve a commission on.)
Remember that Sony is the name they trust and Sony have paid millions to to experts to set up their sales pages. Leave the selling to them.
Step 3:
Making affliate marketing money is becomes a numbers game after step 1 and 2 are in place. You may make one sale for every hundred people that visit your website (or blog) so you need to attract6 thusands of potential buyers each month if you are to make sufficient sales to become a profesional. Getting traffic to your website is the key to being a successful internet marketer.
Internet marketing tip number 3: Don't bother even attempting to market online if you do not know how to attract pre-qualified traffic. You will simply be wasting your time. It is easy to attracttire kickers, the internet audience is made up of 95% tire kickers - they never buy anything.
If you are seeking to make affiliate marketing money you can find all the proven traffic attraction tools by following this link. You do needto spend money to attract wealth but there is no point in paying hundred's for what is available for mere dollars.
We will write another article about attracting traffic to your website/blog later - there is insufficient space to include all details here.
Step 4:
When you have traffic there is only one step left before you are making affiliate marketing money: You need to convert your site visitors into buyers. If they don't use their credit card you make no commissions.
This is where we it becomes important to use the right keywords. All internet searches are made by entering keywords or keyword phrases into a search engine. From this point the search engine will decide which websites/blogs to send the searcher to.
Going back to our Sony TV example millions more people enter the term "flat screen tv" than enter the term "sony flat screen tv" ad major mistake of almost all wannabe internet marketers is to attempt to compete for the keyword that most people search for.
There is a buying pattern online and it starts with a general search - these people are not seeking to buy, they are seeking to research, that is why most people search the general terms like "flat screen tv". Target this keyword phrase and you are inviting failure.
We will write an article about how to identify "buying" keywords because like getting traffic, it is a complex subject.
Warning:
All of the self proclaimed gurus tell us tha the easiest way to learn is to copy somebody that has succeeded. They then show us screen shots of their Clickbank earnings. Usually the screenhots are not what they appear to be because they attempt to hide the fact that all this money is being made not as an affiliate but as a vendor. In truth most of them don't have a clue about making affiliate sales.
They each have a list of subscribers that are hundreds of thousands strong and they take turns launching dubious get rich quick products that their friends will send out to their mailing list knowing that he want the favor returned in a few weeks time.
I actually started making affiliate marketing money when I unscribed from all the self-proclaimed gurus subscriber lists. I also got far fewer dumb emails each day as a bonus.
